Under Ship a Sales Order

In some circumstances, you may have an agreement with a customer to ship the order even if you are not able to complete the entire quantity. This is often the case with private label or co-packer operations, where the customer will take the entire production run within a specified tolerance.

To record under shipment quantities, you can use the Under-Shipment Quantity field or change the Qty. to Ship field on a sales order or warehouse shipment. When you change the Qty. to Ship field to the actual shipment quantity, the Under-Shipment Quantity field updates to show the shortage quantity.

Alternatively, you can enter the shortage quantity in the Under-Shipment Quantity field and then the Qty. to Ship field updates to show the shipment quantity.

The following steps describe how to fill in the Qty. to Ship fields:

  1. Choose the icon, enter Sales Orders, then choose the related link.

  2. Open the sales order you want to ship.

  3. If the location requires a shipment, choose the Home > Create Warehouse Shipment action.

  4. On the Sales Order or Warehouse Shipment page, populate the following field:

    Field Description
Qty. to Ship Enter the shipped quantity.

If the total shortage is within the tolerance specified by the assigned under-shipment code, the Under-Shipment Quantity field will update to show the shortage.

  5. Choose the Home > Post action on the Sales Order page.

    -OR-

Chose the Home > Post Shipment action on the Warehouse Shipment page.

Once all lines on the sales order are posted, the order will be closed.
