Add or Remove Inventory Restrictions
You can use the Inventory Restriction Journals page to add or remove single or multiple restrictions from tracked inventory. You can also add bin contents and nearly expired inventory to the journal.
Add restrictions to inventory
You can only add restrictions to inventory if the Add Restrictions (Manually) check box is selected for your user ID on the User Setup page.
Choose the icon, enter Inventory Restriction Journals, then choose the related link.
On the Inventory Restriction Journals page, populate the following fields:
Field Description Batch Name Select the journal batch, which is a customized layout that the journal lines will follow. If applicable, add bin contents to the journal lines.
If applicable, add expiring inventory to the journal lines.
In the Lines, populate the following fields as needed:
The Current Restrictions FactBox shows the restrictions associated with the selected line.
Field Description Posting Date Select the date to post the entry. Entry Type Select Add Restriction. Document No. Enter a document number. Item No. Select the item to which you want to add restrictions. Serial No. Select the serial number to which you want to add restrictions. Lot No. Select the lot number to which you want to add restrictions. Package No. Select the package number to which you want to add restrictions. Inventory Restriction Code Select the inventory restriction code to add a single to the item.
If you cannot select a value, restrictions have been added from the Restriction action. If the field is not visible, the Inventory Restrictions on Lines checkbox was not selected on the Inventory Restriction Journal Batches page.Add multiple restrictions to a line.
Select a line.
Select Line > Restrictions
On the Inventory Restriction Journal Restrictions page, select one or more restriction codes.
Close the page.
The restrictions added from the Restriction action are listed in the Pending Restrictions FactBox with a status of Add.
Select Home > Post.
The selected restrictions are associated with the item's serial, lot or package number.
Records are created in the Inventory Restriction Registers page and Inventory Restriction Entries page.
Remove restrictions from inventory
You can only remove restrictions from inventory if the Remove Restrictions (Manually) check box is selected for your user ID on the User Setup page.
Choose the icon, enter Inventory Restriction Journals, then choose the related link.
On the Inventory Restriction Journals page, populate the following fields:

Item No. Select the item from which you want to remove restrictions. Serial No. Select the serial number from which you want to remove restrictions. Inventory Restriction Code Select the inventory restriction code to remove from the item.
If you cannot select a value, restrictions have been added from the Restriction action. If the field is not visible, the Inventory Restrictions on Lines checkbox was not selected on the Inventory Restriction Journal Batches page.Add multiple restrictions to a line.
Select a line.
Select Line > Restrictions
On the Inventory Restriction Journal Restrictions page, select one or more restriction codes.
Close the page.
The restrictions added from the Restriction action are listed in the Pending Restrictions FactBox with a status of Remove.
Select Home > Post.
The selected restrictions are removed from the item's serial, lot or package number.
Records are created in the Inventory Restriction Registers page and Inventory Restriction Entries page.
Add bin contents
You can add all of the contents of a bin to the journal lines.
On the Inventory Restriction Journals page, select Home > Get Bin Contents.
On the Bin Content Request page, populate the following field:
Field Description Select Type Select if you want serial, lot or package numbers. In the Filter FastTab, enter the filters for the bin contents you want to add to the journal lines.
Select OK.
You can now add restrictions to the bin contents.
Add expiring inventory
You can add inventory nearing its expiry date to the journal lines.
On the Inventory Restriction Journals page, select Home > Suggest Expiring Inventory.
On the Suggest Expiring Inventory page, enter filters if needed.
Select OK.
The lots nearing their expiry date are listed. Expiring inventory is calculated based on the value in the Expiration Warning field on the Inventory Restriction Setup page.
You can now add restrictions to the nearly expired inventory.
Alternatively, you can assign restrictions to nearly expired inventory from the Apply Expiration Warning Restrictions page.
