Sequence the Production Order Routings

You can calculate the sequence of production order routings and then apply the sequence to the routings, which will update the start dates and times of the routings in the sequence. The sequencing can be done from the Work Center Task List page and the Machine Center Task List page.

Calculate the sequence

You can calculate the sequence of the production order routings based on start date-time, production order number or sequence code. The sequencing is applied to the routings that match the filter values.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Work Center Task List or Machine Center Task List, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Work Center Task List or Machine Center Task List page, if applicable, enter the filters to narrow the list.

  3. Select Calculate Sequence.

  4. On the Calculate Sequence page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Sequence Based On

Select how to sequence the production order routings.

    • Start Date-Time: The production orders will be arranged according to the start date and time of the production orders.

    • Prod. Order No.: The production orders will be arranged according to the production order numbers.

    • Sequence Code: The production orders will be arranged based on the sequence code assigned to the item.

Sequence codes are arranged numerically and then alphabetically.

Start Date Select the date the first operation in the sequence will start.
    Start Time

Select the time the first operation in the sequence will start.

The default value is from the Normal Starting Time field on the Manufacturing Setup page.

    Apply Sequence

Turn the toggle on to apply the sequencing to the routings that match the values entered in the Filter FastTab.

When the sequencing is applied, the applicable routings will be assigned new start times and dates based on the values in the Start Date and Start Time fields. The routing with a sequence priority of 1 will start on the defined start date and time and the rest of the routings will be ordered based on the priority.

Records that do not meet the filtering criteria or that do not have a sequencing code (if the sequence is based on the sequence code) will not have the sequencing applied.

  5. If applicable, enter the filter values in the Filter FastTab.

The sequence priority will only be assigned to records that match the filter values.

  6. Select OK.

  7. If the Apply Sequence toggle was turned off, then you can manually update the following fields:

    Field Description
    Sequence Priority

If applicable, update the order of the production order routings.

If multiple production orders have the same sequence number, then the routings are ordered by production order number.

    Sequence Start Date

If applicable, change the date the first operation in the sequence will start.

The value is from the Initial Start Date field when calculating the sequence, and if that field was blank, the date is from the production order.

    Sequence Start Time

If applicable, change the date the first operation in the sequence will start.

The value is from the Initial Start Time field when calculating the sequence or from the Default Start Time field on the Work Center Card page or Machine Center Card page if entering the priority manually. If both of those values are blank, the value is from the Normal Starting Time field on the Manufacturing Setup page.

Apply the sequence

Once the sequence is calculated, you can apply the sequencing to the production order routings. The routing with a sequence priority of 1 will start on the sequence start date and time, and the rest of the routings will be ordered based on their priority.

  1. Calculate the sequence.

  2. On the Work Center Task List or Machine Center Task List page, select Apply Sequence.

  3. On the Apply Sequence page, populate the following field:

    Field Description
Skip Entries with Blank Priority Turn on the toggle to not include routing lines with a 0 (zero) in the Sequence Priority field when applying the sequencing.
  4. Select OK.

  5. If applicable, enter the filter values in the Filter FastTab.

The sequence will only be applied to records that match the filter values.

The production order routings will be updated with new start dates and times.
