Enter Capacity Cost Factor

When posting from the Output Journal page or the Production Journal page (via a production order), you can enter a capacity cost factor, which is used to calculate the work and machine center direct cost.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Output Journals, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Output Journals page, enter the information needed to post the output.

  3. For the capacity cost factor, populate the following field:

    Field Description
    Capacity Cost Factor

Enter the cost factor for the operation.

If a value was entered in the Capacity Cost Factor Caption field on the Variable Capacity Cost Setup page, then this field label will reflect that value.
  4. Select Home > Post.

The work or machine center direct cost is calculated by multiplying the cost factor by the direct unit cost.

The cost factor is recorded but not used in the cost calculation in the following instances:

    • If the Cost Incl. Capacity Cost Factor toggle is turned off on the Variable Capacity Cost Setup page.

    • If the Specific Unit Cost toggle is turned on or a value was selected in the Subcontractor No. field on the Work Center Card page.

You can view the details of the work and machine center capacity costs from the Capacity Ledger Entries page.
