Adjust the Inventory in a Package

From the Item Journal page, you can increase or decrease the inventory of an existing package, create a new package and assign inventory to a default package.

Increase the inventory of an existing package

If you need to increase the quantity of items in an existing package or need to add new items to a package, you can use the Item Journal page to perform positive adjustments for these items.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Item Journals and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Item Journals page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Entry Type Select Positive Adjmt.
    Document No. Enter a document number.
    Item No. Select the item number to which to add inventory.
    Location Code Select the location of the package.
    Bin Code Select the bin code of the package.
    Quantity Enter the amount to add to the package.
  3. Select Line > Item Tracking Lines.

  4. On the Item Tracking Lines page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Serial No. If applicable, enter a serial number or select Home > Assign Serial No..
    Lot No. If applicable, enter a lot number or select Home > Assign Lot No..
    Package No.

    Select the package number to which you want to add inventory.

    If a value was entered in the Package Caption field on the Inventory Setup page, then this field label will reflect that value.
    Quantity (Base) If applicable, enter the quantity being added.
  5. Close the Item Tracking Lines page.

  6. Select Home > Post.

  7. Select Yes to post the journal lines.

Decrease the inventory of an existing package

If you need to decrease the quantity of items in an existing package, you can use the Item Journal page to perform negative adjustments to these items.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Item Journals and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Item Journals page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Entry Type Select Negative Adjmt.
    Document No. Enter a document number.
    Item No. Select the item number to remove from the package.
    Location Code Select the location of the package.
    Bin Code Select the bin code of the package.
    Quantity Enter the amount to remove from the package.
  3. Select Line > Item Tracking Lines.

  4. On the Item Tracking Lines page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Serial No. If applicable, enter a serial number or select Home > Assign Serial No..
    Lot No. If applicable, enter a lot number or select Home > Assign Lot No..
    Package No.

    Select the package number from which you want to remove inventory.

    If a value was entered in the Package Caption field on the Inventory Setup page, then this field label will reflect that value.
    Quantity (Base) If applicable, enter the quantity being removed.
  5. Close the Item Tracking Lines page.

  6. Select Home > Post.

  7. Select Yes to post the journal lines.

Add inventory to a new package

  1. Choose the icon, enter Item Journals and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Item Journals page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Entry Type Select Positive Adjmt.
    Document No. Enter a document number.
    Item No. Select the item number to which to add inventory.
    Location Code Select the location of the package.
    Bin Code Select the bin code of the package.
    Quantity Enter the amount to add to the package.
  3. Select Line > Item Tracking Lines.

  4. On the Item Tracking Lines page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Serial No. If applicable, enter a serial number or select Home > Assign Serial No..
    Lot No. If applicable, enter a lot number or select Home > Assign Lot No..
    Package No.

    Enter a new package number or select Home > Assign Package No. to generate a new unique package number.

    Alternatively, select Home > Assign Package and Lot No. to assign a lot number and package number simultaneously.

    If a value was entered in the Package Caption field on the Inventory Setup page, then this field label will reflect that value.
    Quantity (Base) If applicable, enter the quantity being added.
  5. Close the Item Tracking Lines page.

  6. Select Home > Post.

  7. Select Yes to post the journal lines.

Add inventory to the default package

You can add loose package-tracked inventory to the default package.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Item Journals and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Item Journals page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Entry Type Select Positive Adjmt.
    Document No. Enter a document number.
    Item No. Select the item number to which to add inventory.
    Location Code Select the location of the package.
    Bin Code Select the bin code of the package.
    Quantity Enter the amount to add to the package.
  3. Select Line > Item Tracking Lines.

  4. On the Item Tracking Lines page, populate the following fields:

    Field Description
    Serial No. If applicable, enter a serial number or select Home > Assign Serial No..
    Lot No. If applicable, enter a lot number or select Home > Assign Lot No..
    Package No.

    Enter the default package number or select Home > Assign Default Package No. to to assign the default package number.

    If a value was entered in the Package Caption field on the Inventory Setup page, then this field label will reflect that value.
    Quantity (Base) If applicable, enter the quantity being added.
  5. Close the Item Tracking Lines page.

  6. Select Home > Post.

  7. Select Yes to post the journal lines.
