Set Up Package Restrictions
In warehouses, it is common to have restrictions on combinations of specific items within the same package.
For example, in the food industry, allergen items must not be held together with non-allergen items in a single package. Similarly, limitations are imposed on the mixture of certain types of spices during the staging process. The functionality of package content restrictions provides you with the capability of controlling the mixture of items in a single package.
Create package content codes
A package content code is an attribute that can be assigned to an item. The system prevents the mixture of items with inconsistent content codes within a single package.
Choose the
icon, enter Package Content Codes, and then choose the related link.
On the Package Content Codes page, select New.
Populate the following fields:
Field Description Code Enter the code that identifies the package content. Description Enter a description of the package content code.
Assign a package content code to an item-variant
To impose restrictions on combinations of different items within a single package, you need to assign package content codes to those items.
You can also perform these steps by navigating directly to the Item Package Content Codes page.
Choose the
icon, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
On the Items page, select the item to which you want to assign a code.
On the Item Card page, select Related > Warehouse > Item Package Content Codes.
On the Item Package Content Codes page, populate the following fields:
Field Description Variant Code If applicable, select item variant. Package Content Code Select a package content code to which to apply to the item.
You can assign multiple package content codes to an item.
Set up package content combinations
You need to block specific combinations of package content codes to prevent items with those codes from being combined in a single package. A blocked combination means you cannot post transactions where you are adding an item with an incompatible package content code to the package.
Choose the
icon, enter Package Content Combinations, and then choose the related link.
On the Package Content Combinations page, populate the following field:
All combinations are allowed by default.
To show the code description as the heading, turn on the Show Column Name toggle.
The package content codes are displayed in both rows and columns, meaning all package content codes appear twice.
Field Description Code Select Allowed/Blocked in a column to choose if items with that package content code can be combined with or blocked from the package content code listed under the Code heading.
