Add Inventory Restrictions to Item Recalls

If the Inventory Restrictions app is installed, item restrictions can be added and removed from simulated and released item recalls.

The restriction codes can then be applied to tracked items associated with a released item recall. The restricted items will be prevented from being used in inbound, outbound, and warehouse processes depending on how the restriction codes were set up.

Prerequisites

Add restrictions

You can add item restriction codes to simulated and released item recalls. The item recall inherits the restriction codes from the item recall category code if one was selected.

You cannot add restrictions to finished item recalls.

See Create Item Recalls for the steps on how to create an item recall.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Simulated Item Recalls or Released Item Recalls, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Simulated Item Recalls or Released Item Recalls page, open a record.

  3. On the Simulated Item Recall or Released Item Recall page, select Recall > Inventory Restrictions:

The item recall inherits the restriction codes from the item recall category code if one was selected.

    Note

If the Inventory Restrictions app is not installed, you will receive a message with a link to the app.

  4. On the Item Recall Inventory Restrictions page, populate the following field:

    Field Description
    Inventory Restriction Code

Select the restriction code(s) that can be applied to tracked items associated with an item recall.

  5. Close the Item Recall Inventory Restriction page.

The restriction codes can now be applied to tracked items associated with a released item recall.

Delete restrictions

The item recall inherits the restriction codes from the item recall category code if one was selected but you can delete any restriction codes that you do not want to apply to tracked items.

You can delete the restriction code from simulated and released item recalls. You cannot delete restrictions from finished item recalls.

  4. On the Item Recall Inventory Restrictions page, select the restriction code you want to delete.

  5. Select Delete.

  6. Close the Item Recall Inventory Restrictions page.

Any remaining restriction codes can now be applied to tracked items associated with released item recalls.
