Add Inventory Restrictions to Quality Inspections

If the Inventory Restrictions app is installed, item restrictions can be added and removed from new and active quality inspections. The restriction codes can then be applied to tracked items associated with active or finished quality inspections. The restricted items will be prevented from being used in inbound, outbound, and warehouse processes depending on how the inventory restriction codes were set up.

This feature can be used when you want to prevent items undergoing a quality inspection from being used in transactions or restrict items that have failed an inspection.

Prerequisites

Add restrictions

The inspection inherits the restriction codes from the quality inspection template used to generate it but you can add additional restrictions.

You cannot add restrictions to finished inspections.

See Create Quality Inspections for the steps on how to create an inspection.

  1. Choose the icon, enter Quality Inspections, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Quality Inspections page, open a record with a status of New or Active.

  3. On the New Quality Inspection page or Active Quality Inspection page, select Inspection > Inventory Restrictions:

The inspection inherits the restriction codes from the quality inspection template used to generate it.

    Note

If the Inventory Restrictions app is not installed, you will receive a message with a link to the app.

  4. On the Inspection Inventory Restriction page, populate the following field:

    Field Description
    Inventory Restriction Code

Select the restriction code(s) that can be applied to tracked items from a quality inspection.

  5. Close the Inspection Inventory Restriction page.

The restriction codes can now be applied to tracked items associated with active or finished quality inspections.

Delete restrictions

The inspection inherits the restriction codes from the quality inspection template used to generate it but you can delete any restriction codes that you do not want to apply to tracked items.

You can delete the restriction code from new and active quality inspections. You cannot delete restrictions from finished inspections.

See Create Quality Inspections for the steps on how to create an inspection.
