Apply Restrictions to Quality Inspection Items
If inventory restriction codes were added to quality inspections, you can then apply the restrictions to tracked items associated with active or finished quality inspections. The restricted items will be prevented from being used in inbound, outbound, and warehouse processes depending on how the inventory restriction codes were set up.
This feature can be used when you want to prevent items undergoing a quality inspection from being used in transactions or restrict items that have failed an inspection.
You must have permission to add inventory restriction codes, and the inspection must be associated with a tracked item.
Prerequisites
- Inventory restriction codes were added to an inspection.
- User has permission to manually add restriction codes.
- Quality inspection is associated with a tracked item.
Apply inventory restriction codes to tracked items
In order to apply restriction codes to an item, the inspection must be associated with a tracked item, and a value must have been selected for one of the following fields in the Item FastTab: Serial No, Lot No or Package No when entering test results.
Choose the icon, enter Quality Inspections, and then choose the related link.
On the Quality Inspections page, open a record with a status of Active or Finished.
For active inspections, you can choose to add or remove restriction codes.
On the Active Quality Inspection page or Finished Quality Inspection page, select Home > Apply Inventory Restrictions.
You will receive a validation message if the restrictions were successfully applied to the on-hand inventory associated with the inspection. If the inventory has a combination of serial, lot and package numbers, the restriction code will be applied to only one of the tracking numbers in the following order:
- Serial number
- Lot number
- Package number
You can view the inventory restriction entries to see the items with restrictions.
