Create Commissions
The Commission Card page contains the data that defines the commission parameters and specifies the applicable items, customers and agents to which the commission applies. When a sales document is created, the commission card controls the commission calculation and ensures the commission transaction is recorded in the correct accounts.
Create a commission
Choose the
icon, enter Commissions, and then choose the related link.
On the Commissions page, select New.
On the Commission Card page, in the General FastTab, populate the following fields:
Field Description No. Enter a number or let the system assign a number based on the numbering series defined during setup. Description Enter a description of the commission. Commission Category Code If applicable, select a category code, which can be used to group commissions. Currency Code If you want to define a foreign currency commission, select a code for the currency.
This capability allows you to calculate commissions according to currency preferences. Leave this field blank to use the local currency.
If the currency code on the commission does not match the currency code on the sales document, the commission will not be applied.Starting Date Select the date the commission begins.
This is the earliest date when the active commission will be effective.Ending Date Select the date the commission ends.
If you leave the field blank, the active commission will not end until the Status field is set to Inactive.Status Select a status for the commission.
Draft: Allows the commission to be edited. If the status is Draft, the commission entries will not be calculated regardless of the start and end date. When you create a new commission, the status is automatically set to Draft. You cannot change the status to Draft if the commission has existing entries.
Active: Enables the commission. Once the status is Active, commission entries will be calculated based on the start and end date. When you change the status to Active, the system checks whether the required data has already been identified. In the case of missing data, error messages will appear. You cannot edit a commission with an Active status.
Inactive: Makes the commission inactive. If the status is Inactive, commission entries will not be calculated regardless of the start and end date. You can edit a commission with an Inactive status.
In the Calculation Details FastTab, populate the following fields:
Field Description Calculation Type Select how the commission is calculated.

Per Unit of Measure: Calculates commissions based on the sales document line quantity. To use this calculation type, you need to select a value in the Unit of Measure Code field.

Percentage of Sales Amount: Calculates commissions based on a percentage of the sales document line amount. To use this calculation type, you need to specify the commission percentage. If the Value Type field has a value of Specific, then the commission percentage is entered in the Value field.

Percentage of Profit: Calculates commissions based on a percentage of the profit of the sales document line. To use this calculation type, you need to specify the commission percentage. If the Value Type field has a value of Specific, then the commission percentage is entered in the Value field.
Percentage of Profit Margin: Calculates commissions based on a percentage of the profit margin of the sales document line. To use this calculation type, you need to specify the commission percentage. If the Value Type field has a value of Specific, then the commission percentage is entered in the Value field.
Unit of Measure Code If Per Unit of Measure was selected for the Calculation Type field, select a sales unit of measure.
A commission will apply to a document line only if the sales unit of measure on the document line and the commission matches.Value Type Select the type of commission.

Specific: Commission is calculated based on a specific value entered in the Value field.

Tiered: Commission is calculated based on the values entered on the Commission Tiers page. See Create a tiered commission for the steps.
Value Enter the value of the commission. -
In the Posting FastTab, populate the following fields:
Field Description Commission Posting Group Select the general ledger accounts that will be used when you post commission amounts. Sales Document Is Fully Paid Select if the commission will only be paid to agents when the sales document has been fully paid.
Select Default to use the value defined for the Sales Document is Fully Paid on the Sales Commissions Setup page.Sales Document Paid By Due Date Select if the commission will only be paid to agents if the sales document is paid by the due date
This field is ignored if the Sales Document Is Fully Paid field is not set to Yes.
Select Default to use the value defined for the Sales Document is Fully Paid on the Sales Commissions Setup page.Next step is to add customers, items and agents to the commission. You cannot make a commission active until at least one customer, item and agent are associated with the commission.
Create a tiered commission
You can set up multiple tiers for a commission, allowing the commission amount to vary depending on the quantity or amount being sold.
If you selected Tiered for the Value Type field, you need to define the levels that are used in the commission calculation.
The commission must have a status of Draft or Inactive in order to create tier.
On the Commission Card page, select Home > Tiers.
On the Commission Tiers page, populate the following fields for each commission level:
Field Description Minimum Enter the minimum value for which the commission tier will apply.
The value depends on the selection in the Calculation Type field.

Per Unit of Measure: Minimum number of items that need to be sold to qualify for the commission.

Percentage of Sales Amount: Minimum sales amount that needs to be met to qualify for the commission.
Percentage of Profit: Minimum profit amount that needs to be met to qualify for the commission.
Percentage of Profit Margin: Minimum profit margin amount that needs to be met to qualify for the commission.
Value Enter the value of the commission tier.
The value depends on the selection in the Calculation Type field.

Per Unit of Measure: Commission amount to apply per unit of measure.

Percentage of Sales Amount: Percentage of the commission based on the sales amount.
Percentage of Profit: Percentage of the commission based on the profit.
Percentage of Profit Margin: Percentage of the commission based on the profit margin.

Close the page.
Add customers to the commission
At least one customer needs to be added to the commission before the status can be changed to Active.
The commission must have a status of Draft or Inactive in order to add customers.
On the Commission Card page, select Home > Customers.
On the Commission Customers page, populate the following fields:
Field Description Customer Type Select the customer type that describes the customers for which commissions are eligible.
Customer: Include specific customers in the commission.

All Customers: Include all customers in the commission.

Customer Price Group: Include all customers with the same customer price group in the commission.

Customer Discount Group: Include all customers with the same customer discount group in the commission.

Customer Commission Group: Include all customers with the same customer commission group in the commission.
Customer No. Select the value that corresponds to the value selected in the Customer Type field. Close the page.
Add items to the commission
At least one item needs to be added to the commission before the status can be changed to Active.
The commission must have a status of Draft or Inactive in order to add items.
On the Commission Card page, select Home > Items.
On the Commission Items page, populate the following fields:
Field Description Item Type Select the item type that indicates the items to which the commission is applicable.
Item: Include specific items in the commission.

All Items: Include all items in the commission.

Item Category: Include all items with the same item category in the commission.

Item Commission Group: Include all items with the same item commission group in the commission.
Item No. Select the value that corresponds to the value selected in the Item Type field.
Add agents to the commission
At least one agent needs to be added to the commission before the status can be changed to Active.
The commission must have a status of Draft or Inactive in order to add items.
On the Commission Card page, select Home > Agents.
On the Commission Agents page, populate the following fields:
Field Description Agent Type Select the agent type that indicates the agents to which the commission is applicable.
Agent: Include specific agents in the commission.

Agent Commission Group: Include all agents with the same agent commission group in the commission.
Agent No. Select the value that corresponds to the value selected in the Agent Type field. Close the page.
Copy a commission
When creating a new commission card, you have the option to copy some or all the fields of an existing commission card, instead of starting from scratch.
Choose the
icon, enter Commissions, and then choose the related link.
On the Commissions page, select New.
On the Commission Card page, select Actions > Functions > Copy Commissions.
Populate the following fields:
Field Description From Commission No. Select the commission from which to copy the data. Copy Customers Turn the toggle on to copy customers to the new commission. Copy Items Turn the toggle on to copy items to the new commission. Copy Agents Turn the toggle on to copy agents to the new commission. Copy Tiers Turn the toggle on to copy tiers to the new commission. Copy Attachments Turn the toggle on to copy attachments to the new commission. Copy Links Turn the toggle on to copy links to the new commission. Copy Starting & Ending Dates Turn the toggle on to copy starting and ending dates to the new commission. Select OK.
