Assign Restrictions to a Bin
You can assign restriction codes to empty bins. The restrictions codes are applied to the items when they are placed in the bin.
The restriction codes will remain with the inventory's lot, serial number, or package even if they are moved out of the bin.
If only part of a lot, serial number, or package is placed in a restricted bin, all of the inventory associated with the tracking number becomes restricted, not just the portion in that bin. To apply restrictions to only part of a lot, you must first create a sub-lot.
Important
You cannot modify restrictions for a bin that contains inventory.
Choose the
icon, enter Locations, then choose the related link.Open the Location Card page for the location that contains the quarantine bin.
Select Bins.
On the Bins page, select a bin code.
Populate the following field:
Field Description Bin Restriction Preference Select the how the restrictions will be applied to items in the bin. - Serial-Lot-Package: The restriction is applied to the inventory's serial numbers. If the inventory has not been assigned any serial numbers, then the restriction will be applied to the inventory's lot numbers. If the inventory has not been assigned any lot numbers, the restriction will be applied to the inventory's packages.
- Package-Serial-Lot: The restriction is applied to the inventory's packages. If the inventory is not in any packages, then the restriction will be applied to the inventory's serial numbers. If the inventory has not been assigned any serial numbers, the restriction will be applied to the inventory's lot numbers.
- Lot-Package (Ignore-Serial): The restriction is applied to the inventory's lot numbers. If the inventory has not been assigned any lot numbers, then the restriction will be applied to the inventory's packages. This setting ignores the serial number.
- Package-Lot (Ignore Serial): The restriction is applied to the inventory's packages. If the inventory is not in any packages, then the restriction will be applied to the inventory's lot numbers. This setting ignores the serial number.
Select Restrictions.
On the Bin Restrictions page, populate the following field:
Field Description Code Select the restriction code that will be applied to inventory that is put into the bin.
