Enter Capacity Cost Factor

If the Variable Capacity Cost app is installed, you can enter the Capacity Cost Factor field when posting production output.

The cost factor is multiplied by a work or machine center's direct unit cost to determine the center's direct cost. This is useful when calculating capacity costs with flexible inputs, such as the number of employees involved in production.

  1. From the Home screen, select Production.

  2. Select Output.

The Output screen shows a list of the released production orders.

  3. Select the order for which you want to post output.

  4. Select the item number to open the routing line.

  5. Populate the following field:

    Field Description
    Capacity Cost Factor

Enter the cost factor for the operation.

The work or machine center direct cost will be calculated by multiplying the cost factor by the direct unit cost.

The cost factor is recorded but not used in the cost calculation in the following instances:

    • If the Cost Incl. Capacity Cost Factor toggle is turned off on the Variable Capacity Cost Setup page.
    • If the Specific Unit Cost toggle is turned on or a value was selected in the Subcontractor No. field on the Business Central Work Center Card page.

This field is only displayed if the Show Capacity Cost Factor toggle is turned on from the Business Central Mobile Data Collection Setup page.

If a value was entered in the Capacity Cost Factor Caption field on the Business Central Variable Capacity Cost Setup page, then this field label will reflect that value.

See Post Production Output for the full steps on posting output.
