Add Restrictions to Inventory
Restrictions can be added to tracked inventory automatically or manually.
You can manually add restrictions to tracked inventory from the Inventory Restriction Journals or from the Inventory Restriction Worksheet page.
You can only manually add restrictions to inventory if the Add Restrictions (Manually) check box is selected for your user ID on the User Setup page. See Set Up Users for more information.
If you want to add restrictions to expiring inventory, see Apply Restrictions to Expiring Inventory.
If you don't want to apply restrictions to a full lot, you can create a sub-lot and apply the restrictions to the sub-lot.
Automatically add restrictions to items
Restrictions are automatically applied to items in the following instances:
Items are put into bins associated with restriction codes.
The value in the Bin Restriction Preference field that was populated during setup determines if the restriction is associated with the lot, serial or package number.
If only part of a lot, serial number, or package is placed in a restricted bin, all of the inventory associated with the tracking number becomes restricted, not just the portion in that bin. To apply restrictions to only part of a lot, you must first create a sub-lot.
Items associated with an inventory restriction group are received or output.
